Events & Activities

Events & Activities

We provide a number of regular weekly activities such as seated exercises. We also have walking groups which offer walks at a variety of places for all levels and meet on a regular basis. Contact us for an up to date diary of walks. For all inquiries, telephone 01623 753192

Volunteers

Volunteers are recruited to encourage and support older people to be more active. This can be on a one-to-one basis, or in groups. Why not volunteer and share your hobbies, activities and pleasure time with like-minded individuals. Popular activities include: walking & rambling and seated exercise. If you are a good communicator and enjoy being active & spending time with people, this could be a volunteering opportunity for you. Volunteers are provided with training, an induction pack, ongoing support and travel expenses.

Caring Codgers

The Caring Codgers is a group of older people in Ashfield, aged 70 plus with mobility problems arising from a variety of conditions including strokes, arthritis, heart problems and general frailty. The group welcomes all genders.

We are a self-help group who meet fortnightly on Thursdays  for information sharing, a chat over a cuppa and a few laughs. We enjoy trips out and have made many close friends within the group. Most of us live alone and have mobility problems, which makes us very vulnerable and we could easily become isolated without our support network. The Caring Codgers is a lifeline for us, providing us with friendships, support, information and much needed laughter. It also provides a break for our carers, allowing them time for relaxation.

Cosy Mosey Walking Group

Why not join our new “Cosy Mosey” walking group. The starting venue will vary across the Ashfield area each Friday

The emphasis of the walk is aimed at the less able or “mosey” rather than a brisk walking pace
